Favorite Love Songs

Anyone from the Iona 11th Ward want to help me out? There will be a treat for the first 11 people who answer this request for me. I will bring it on Sunday .

I am looking for your favorite love song. It can be "your song" or just a song that reminds you of your sweetheart.

Oh, and don't forget that you can still enter the snowman contest for a chance to win a Yummy Hot Chocolate kit. Just build a snowman and send me an email with a picture of it. If you don't want to go outside, make it out of rice krispies, or sugar cookies, or bring snow inside and make it inside. Only five more days to enter.

11th Ward Blog

Well, the stake recently told Bishop Bodily that we can't have blogs for our ward or organizations. So...I guess this is just going to be my blog from now on. I will still use it to get ideas for my newsletter if any of you are willing to help me out, but it is will no longer be mentioned in the newsletter or at Relief Society. Still, I love the name of the blog and I decided to continue using it as my blog.

This month in the newsletter I want to list some of our New Year's Resolutions. Do you have any resolutions that you wouldn't mind sharing? I will have a surprise at church on Sunday for everyone that helps me out.

Thanks,
Janet

December Contest

The Holidays can be a pretty lonely time for those in the service and the missionaries. To encouraging everyone to write letters to them, we are having a little contest. Just write a letter to one of these young men from our ward by Sunday December 20, and then:

1. email janet_long1962@msn.com

2. leave a message about it here on the blog

3. or just tell Janet that you did it!

Your name will go into a drawing for an 11 X14 copy of this picture of the temple in a black frame. Good luck, everyone!

Favorite Christmas Storybook

Do you have a favorite Christmas Storybook that your family reads each year? If so, then please leave the title of the book in the comments section. The first ten ladies to respond to this will get a special treat on Sunday at church.

Our family loves the story "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey." If you haven't read it you should pick it up from the bookstore. It is the sweetest story with beautiful illustrations. It is about a grumpy wood carver and a young widow lady and her son. They ask the wood carver to carve a nativity to replace one that they lost. The story shows how much people can bless each other's lives.

We had a wonderful time at Relief Society on Thursday night. We had a nice turn out and we missed those who weren't able to attend. We had delicious soups that several ladies brought. They were served in darling bread bowls, made by Mrs. Powell's under the directions of Sherri Hatch. We also had yummy salads and pumpkin bars. We will post the recipes as soon as we get them. We played a couple of games that helped us to get to know each other better. We also had a drawing for everyone that entered a pie recipe in our contest for a free apron. We actually gave two aprons away--one to Renee' Bodily and the other to Kaelyne Schwieder. Thanks to everyone who entered a recipe. They are all posted here on the blog. Thanks to everyone who helped to make the night a success. To see a few pictures from our fun night, just click on the green arrow below.

Joyce Norby already sent her yummy soup recipe to us. The other soup recipes will be posted as soon as we get them.
